Da li ste od onih koji vjeruju u popularizaciju znanosti? Ili mislite da je komunikacija između znanosti i kulture ne samo moguća nego i potrebna? Možda će vas zanimati Festival of Conversation for Culture and Science.Austrijsko ministarstvo vanjskih poslova od ove godine organizira Festival of Conversation for Culture and Science čija je ideja potaknuti suradnju mladih umjetnika i
znanstvenika s područja podunavske regije, sa sudjelovanjem ljudi iz Austrije, Mađarske, Ukrajine, Slovačke, Hrvatske, Bosne i Hercegovine, Srbije, Bugarske, Rumunjske i Moldavije. Prvi festival će biti održan u Novom Sadu, od 29-31.05.2008., i organiziran je u obliku open space foruma. Naglasak je na sudjelovanju mladih profesionalaca zainteresiranih za nove suradnje, ideje, međunarodne projekte. U nastavku teksta je informacijski letak o festivalu, a sve one kojima je ovo zagolicalo profesionalnu maštu i potaknulo na razmišljanje o prijavljivanju za sudjelovanje, molim da na dmajhen@irb.hr pošalju mail sa slijedećim informacijama: ime, prezime, institucija, adresa, telefon, e-mail, zanimanje, polje aktivnosti, web.
Vjerujem da će ovaj festival biti jako zanimljiv, a i sigurno je dobar
početak za one koji žele ostvariti svoje prve međunarodne kontakte.
Festival of Conversation for Culture and Science
Information for participants
The project “flow” – initiated by the Austrian Ministry for European and International Affairs – works with young professionals from the cultural as well as from the academic scene living in the Danube region. In particular, it focuses on protagonists who work outside large established institutions, with an interest to enhance their professional network and to use it for tangible cross-national projects.
“flow” is planned to be held once a year as a three-day “festival of conversation”. The first festival will take place in May 2008 in Novi Sad, Serbia. In parallel, an online platform will be provided to foster continuous exchange among the participants all year round.
The participants are nominated by the members of the flow Advisory Board. They are asked to designate people from the most various fields of art, culture, the natural sciences and the humanities. The integration of natural scientists has been discussed thoroughly, particularly with regard to the participants’ benefits. We believe that there is a complex relationship between the natural sciences and the arts. Therefore, we feel every participant will benefit from the mutual exchange of ideas, which might also lead to ideas for interdisciplinary initiatives.
As the project’s objective is to initiate and/or facilitate cross-border projects, the organizers will provide each participant with detailed information on everybody taking part in the festival in Novi Sad, as to enable communication in advance of the event. On the website, the member area offers the opportunity to upload a CV, photo and portfolio via an entry mask, to present project ideas or to post general comments.
The festival itself is conceived as an open space event. In open space discussions, the participants form self-organized and self-managed working groups around a central topic.
The festival will be documented by a comprehensive publication covering the outcome of the open space discussion groups, project ideas, as well as statements and essays by the participants themselves. A common declaration drafting policy visions to facilitate cross-border projects could be set up by the participants.
The publication shall be officially delivered by the Austrian Foreign Ministry to decision-makers and organizations in the fields of politics, science and culture – as for example the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) – and to institutions or stakeholders named by the participants and Advisory Board members.
The Advisory Board Members together with the participants will form the flow committee. In the first year, this will comprise around 70 people. The committee is asked to promote current needs and interests concerning cross-national cooperations. Strenghtened by the Austrian Ministry for European and International Affairs, they advocate for them at possible policy levels. As flow aims for a high level of sustainability, the flow committee will meet in the follow-up event in 2009 to discuss the outcome of their activities. In 2010, the first projects initiated through flow shall be presented to a broad public.
The nominees will get notice on their participation by the end of February, 2008. For them, all costs will be covered for the travel to and the accommodation in Novi Sad.
