Position announcement - Research assistant or research associate in biology or medicine

One full-time research position for one year is available in the Speech and Hearing Research Lab at the School of Medicine of the University of Split (Split, Croatia).

The position is available as part of the project “Auditory neuroelectronic interfaces” jointly funded by the Business Innovation Center of Croatia (BICRO), School of Medicine, University of Split and IMEC v.z.w (Leuven, Belgium). The project focuses on the development of novel and viable auditory neuro-electronic interfaces using standard methods in cellular biology and neurophysiology. The candidate will be responsible for carrying out research experiments and will be supervised by and responsible to dr.sc. Damir Kovacic, the project leader.

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist or medical doctor (MD) with:

  • master or PhD degree in biology or related field (medicine, biomedical sciences, medical physics, biophysics, neuroscience, and similar);
  • some experience and strong interest in cellular biology;
  • ability to integrate into a multidisciplinary research team, closely cooperating with people working in the field of auditory neuroelectronics.

Expertise in neuronal cellular studies and neurophysiology is highly desirable, but it is not required.

The position starts as soon as it is filled, taking place in Split, Croatia. The salary will be based on the standard salary grades for researchers in Croatia with possibility for performance bonus at the end of the project.
